New York, New York, February 6, 2018 – Mr. Adam Szubin and Ms. Eunice Panetta have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC).
FSVC is a not-for-profit organization that helps build financial sectors in developing and emerging market countries by sending senior-level financial experts on overseas volunteer technical assistance missions.
Mr. Szubin is currently Of Counsel at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he focuses his practice on financial services and national security, with particular emphasis on economic sanctions, export controls, money laundering and counter terrorism. Previously he served as Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the U.S. Department of Treasury. During his nearly 13 year tenure at the Treasury Department, Mr. Szubin also served as the Director of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
“I am honored to join FSVC’s Board of Directors, and feel that the need for FSVC’s work is more critical than ever,” said Mr. Szubin. “I first became acquainted with FSVC while at Treasury, and was impressed by the quality of its work. I firmly believe that capacity building in emerging market countries not only promotes stability and prosperity, but also U.S. and global security interests.”
Ms. Panetta is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of the Trustees of Reservations. She previously chaired the boards of Phillips Exeter Academy and the Academy of American Poets. Previously, Ms. Panetta worked for over 15 years in long-short equity. Ms. Panetta was the Founder, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Kaintuck Capital Management LP, and a Principal at Pequot Capital Management. Ms. Panetta currently writes and co-hosts “The Midterms Podcast,” a political podcast highlighting relevant races in the upcoming U.S. elections in 2018.
“FSVC is a terrific organization that performs a vital function. Strong financial sectors are the key to job creation and economic growth in developing and emerging market countries,” said Ms. Panetta. “I am pleased to be able to play a role in helping FSVC carry out its important mission.”
FSVC Chairman William H. Donaldson stated, “We are delighted that both Adam and Nicie are joining our Board here at FSVC. At Treasury, Mr. Szubin played an invaluable role in keeping the United States and the global economy safe from terrorist organizations and other threats to national security. Ms. Panetta’s experience in investment management will help strengthen FSVC’s global programs to promote equity markets in emerging market countries. They each bring a unique perspective to FSVC, and we expect to benefit greatly from their combined experience.”
FSVC President and CEO Andrew Spindler added, “Adam and Nicie have both been outstanding supporters of FSVC’s work over a number of years. Together they possess immense public and private sector experience, which will be extremely valuable in helping to guide FSVC’s strategic mission going forward.”
